My post regarding finding the right iPhone developer (from developer’s perspective) got noticed by Odesk and it seems to be interesting for people so I’m posting it here. You may digg it to make it more popular.

I didn’t post about it here in my personal blog - but will do now - “making iCombat” blog is a story of our client from New York who is making an iPhone tanks game with us and it would be interesting to read especially for those who are going to outsource their software development for first time.

My opinion on when it is bad for the PM to do the coding himself:

1.    When it seems easier to do the work by yourself than to explain, create specs, mockups, use cases for the developers which seems to take more time.

2.    When poor estimation and hands-on rush before the deadline becomes a system.

When it is good for PM to do coding:

1.    While demonstrating the scalability and all the features of the product during the meeting with the client.

2.    When there are single unexpected cases of overestimated workload and it is necessary to go hands-on to deliver product functional, 100% tested and on time.

3.    While researching into new ways of doing things and new technologies.

4.    When teaching the engineering teams or helping them with some particulars tasks in order to build better team relationships, increase motivation and deliver better products on time.

I’m personally going to submit a couple of my ideas - maybe this format will be more suitable to  deliver message to people than the way I’ve tried before - submitting to scientific journals, not much success in there yet, people continue calling my papers science fiction

Well, let’s see how far does it go. I have once studied an effect of social promotion of such projects with my own project. According to my observations, it is really important to give it a very powerful boost in the beginning otherwise the effect of avalanche will not last long. Promotion is very important and its timing is important too.

Is there WP plugin allowing you to post to other blogs you have access to? I mean not MU platform when blogs are located at the same server but actually different blogs?

as famous Russian “vkontakte.ru” is nothing but Facebook, soon the same will start happening in Russian-speaking internet

social networks will eat 70% time of those who can’t stop themselves from using useless applications

as with any other thing, there are good and bad sides about social networks and it depends on how you use them

those guys will earn a lot who create these timewasting applications such as plugin allowing you to drop snowballs into your friends or application picking random phrases about Chuck Norris

the future is bright

let’s use the social networks, maintain our contacts, have fun, but do it considerably

P.S. I might start developing applications for social networks, it seems a good business. Will try to make useful ones though.
