the future of social networks in Russian internet

Uncategorized, building the web, fun, hobbies, ideas, practical psychology and self improvement No Comments »

I have logged into facebook which I havent’ checked for a long time and have received a storm of various inviations

as famous Russian “vkontakte.ru” is nothing but Facebook, soon the same will start happening in Russian-speaking internet

social networks will eat 70% time of those who can’t stop themselves from using useless applications

as with any other thing, there are good and bad sides about social networks and it depends on how you use them

those guys will earn a lot who create these timewasting applications such as plugin allowing you to drop snowballs into your friends or application picking random phrases about Chuck Norris

the future is bright

let’s use the social networks, maintain our contacts, have fun, but do it considerably

thanks bro :))

P.S. I might start developing applications for social networks, it seems a good business. Will try to make useful ones though.

it’s winter in Kharkov:

Belgorod

Uncategorized, business and investments, travel 8 Comments »

Last Saturday I’ve been to Belgorod, which is a city quite close to Kharkov (2 hours drive), the only thing it is in Russia. We’ve been visiting my friend with whom we have studied in Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics.

Belgorod is quite an interesting city, it’s quite small as for me, I’ve associated it with Southampton, but it is growing and the roads and city lights are in perfect order compared with my city Kharkov, where the situation with this stuff is very bad.

I think that Kharkiv - Belgorod is a very prospective region from the economic point of view due to the geographical situation of these cities placing them in a trade route between Russia and Europe (through Ukraine). There are also plans (and $1.5bn investments) to build an international airport in two years between our cities. It is therefore would be a good investment to buy property within both cities’ limits and also along the motorway (which is also a route to Moscow and from Russia to Crimea).

At the photo: nice toilets in Belgorod (good idea with the head suspender :))

HR rule

I meet friends who show me their new offices, how they have developed while I’ve been doing PhD in UK. However when I ask them who do you work with, they tell me - this guy who worked with you earlier does this for us, and that guy you had given us the contact does that. Either our world is a small village or I’m very good in finding proper people for certain IT jobs.

Enough of studying

Ok I’m now reaching the next stage of my life as I’m finishing my PhD research here at Wessex Insitute of Technology and going to be off to Ukraine in the end of this month.

There are going to be a couple of leaving parties, one is “Russian Style Extravaganza ” organised by my housemate Laura Dennison (aka Larisa Denisova) probably on Saturday 22nd which will involve some coctails, a meal and dirty pub (namely Frog and Frigate) in the end; I’m also thinking about BBQ at the Institute on Sunday (chicken, beer & voleyball, relaxing style) but we’ll see how it goes.

I’m looking forward to my departure to Ukraine as I link with it a new, more active, stage of my life. I have tons of projects and ideas which wait to be realized.

My Corolla

I have sold my car today, my nice Toyota Corolla Kudos which has served exceptionally well, in true samurai style, during these 2 years. I’ve made almost 20.000 miles over UK with it usually having a bunch of friends inside and visiting such places as Wales and Cornwall. I have never had any major problem with it. It is likely that my next car will be Toyota as well. Thank you, my red birdie :)

To move is to live

There is a Russian saying that 1 move of the house is worse than 3 fires. I don’t subscribe to this point of view :) I like to move, I like to travel. This refreshes my mind and gives me an understanding of which things are important and which I can do without. I take the best - lots of new useful experience, new attitude to life and links with many good folk - with me, and may the unnecessary things dissolve in the fog of Albion and be taken away by the North Sea.

Good luck my precious self, good luck everybody
